Tell you what, I had conceptualized this blog almost three months ago. I was really excited about it and I was more than happy when I found out that my targeted blog name (Better Blogging for Bloggers) is still available at Blogger. I had many plans for this blog. In fact, I had already set-up goals for every month which would serve as my motivator. It was not easy. I bet every blogger had gone through the same trying times.
The rocks on the road
Beginning a blog is a hard task. I made it even harder for myself. My first challenge was to build a blog with nothing to pay but the internet connection and the electricity consumed by the computer (I didn’t pay for these things anyway). I decided, to start with free hosting on blogger. On my blogging experience, if you want free hosting for a blog, better go to blogger and host it on blogspot. With the new beta-blogger, things have been a lot easier. Not only that, because Google owned it, there’s a lot of advantages. Like their automatic pinging to websites, their ownership to feedburner (which is free thanks to Google), and the blogger-friendly environment. Manually building a blog, I needed to learn a lot of things. Like making layouts/skins/templates, customizing, knowledge on html codes, JavaScript, css, xml, xhtml (which was made worse since I began with only the basic of the html codes). I was thankful that I did anyway. It was better to learn them yourself today than pay for others to do it forever. Plus it improved my blogging to an exponential level. There are times when I just get bugged by errors showing on the template. I had to learn more codes, more hacks, more knowledge. And learning my fellow bloggers could be a nasty thing. Before, I would turn up like a floating dead wood when I came across technical stuffs. At least now I even know how to do it myself.
More rocks on the road
I don’t know what really hit me but I seem to push myself harder beyond the limits. There was a time when I slept at 1:45 in the morning (very very early morning and I was just beginning to sleep) because I had to finish posts and images for the blog. Then I decided to place free services (see at the sidebar) that would definitely add to my workload. And I already have my schedule packed tight. It was relief that summer is approaching (I hate global warming for turning summer into rainy season) and things had loosened up. At least I could have more times to write and improve.
When rocks turned into boulders
That’s practically happening by know. At this time, Better Blogging for Bloggers is fully operational and is joining the world of blogosphere. There will be more work to do, more free services to offer, more posts to write, but hopefully less errors to fix. This blog would definitely need to learn the lessons before it could do the helping. Challenges would fire up soon and I guess me and my blog would be ready to get it down before it gets us. We’ll be on the lookout for ‘betterland’ by now.
Plowing the Road
I had picked May 1, 2008, as the target date for this blog to turn up fully operational. But I think my hard work had really paid off since I’ve beaten the time by almost a month and a half. That’s the first achievement for now. As far as money is concerned, I still have spent not even a single dime. I’m sure lucky someone is still paying for the electric bills. Well, the free services offered here are on the green light too. And all it takes is a little action from you to get it.
Ok, so I think I’ve done and learned a lot of things on the three months I have spent to jumpstart this blog. And three months is my longest periog to ready a blog. I’ll still need to learn a few more tricks and pass it on everyone that might need it. Anyway, gotta end this for now. I’m on the computer for about four times today already. Lucky, the people in the house doesn’t seem to mind. By the way, this is my first real post! Cheers to this one (and I’m gulping coke if you’re wondering).
