Three wrong things they say

better blogging for bloggers, build a better blog, SEO for blog, improve your blogAsking for an opinion is a wise move. Following opinions is a wiser move. But following wrong opinions? Well, it’s not your fault but at least you’ve become wise enough to realize the wrong things they’ve been teaching you. I for one have headed for many opinions. It’s part of learning. When you don’t know what to do, go ask and don’t try to act like you’ll manage. Sometimes, you can. Most of the times, you just can’t.

When I started blogging, you can say that I’ve been studying a lot. Ebooks, blogs, forums tutorials, mail subscriptions etc. I had learned a great deal from these stuffs. Most of them, I’ve been thankful for. Some of them, I wished I never encountered. Right now, I’ll be giving you a list of three things that I’ve learned, followed and regretted. Better learn from mistakes right? In this case, their mistakes, my corrections.

Wrong #1: Avoiding competitive niche or topics.
They say, there’s a lot of competition. It’s hard to catch up or even get going. You’ll just end up struggling so hard and still won’t make it. But hey, why such a loser attitude? Quiters never win, and quitting at the very beginning is like accepting you’ll be a loser forever. I’d say bring it on. When you know you can, then you will. Maybe you’re really destined to be in that niche. All you need is a strong dedication and a passion to match. That, and drop the loser attitude.

Wrong #2: Let the money do the talking. Unless you’re a person who don’t know where to throw your money, then I suggest not to follow this. It’s kind of tempting when you read an advertisement “1000000+ links, rank number 1 in Google!”. Tell you what, the only thing where you need your money is to improve your blog or website. Not another SEO stuff. Only web business need it. You don’t. So stop wasting your money. Maybe sometimes, we really need a lift in our ranks, but skill and resourcefulness does it better than money. Besides, there are other more effective cost-free alternatives. If you still don’t know where to throw your money, donate it to UNICEF and who knows how many empty stomachs you’ll be filling.

Wrong #3: Start with your own website/domain.
You can do this if you already know how tenfold hard it is (physically and financially) to manage a website slash your own domain. I’ve experienced it and trust me, you better start on the easier stuff. I recommend that you go for a free blog hosting, learn a lot of tricks and lessons, improve your blog and blogging and try to reach many visitors and subscribers. Then when you feel you can manage to go to the next level, upgrade your blog (Blogger allows this) to your own domain. According too the old proverb: “One who starts big accomplishes little”. So try to start with the small things and start learning. It pays to know the basics. Seriously.
