Make Your Blog Load Faster Might Just Do the Trick

So far, I haven’t seen any blogger talk about this topic. That makes me the first one I guess. So anyway, what do you think do I mean when I say ‘make your blog load faster’?. This one is my personal discovery, the reason why I decided to redesign my blog and my most well kept rule.Have You Ever Though of This?

Many people (especially those who have a slow internet connection) have trouble with sites which takes a long time to load faster. People tend to avoid these sites as they don’t feel really good with the idea of loading (which translates to waiting). This is the very reason why I like Google better than Yahoo for my browser’s home page. The thing is, you have to make your blog internet connection friendly. If it takes more than 30 seconds for your blog to load at a dial-up-connection, chances are, you’ll be losing your readers with a dial-up-connection. All I wanted to say is that people don’t like the idea of waiting, especially here online.

Tips to Make Your Blog Load Faster

  • Avoid picture backgrounds for your layout (save for the banner). The biggest culprit on why it usually takes longer for a site or blog to load is the background image. For this, I have used a combination of interesting colors using html color codes. They load a lot faster believe me.

  • Another trick is uploading your images to Photobucket. Just get the code or the direct link to place the image to your blog or posts. Photobucket images load faster than any other image host. This is also the reason why most layout designers use Photobucket for uploading images.

  • Avoid a lot of images/graphics/flash animations. Aside from the fact that you’re going overboard in your blog, these things adds to longer loading for your blog.

  • Be careful when placing videos in your blog. A good rule is you must only have one video per page. Many people with slow connections don’t like going through sites containing videos, they can’t watch it anyway and it’ll just take a long time for these to even show up when loading.

You might be thinking that I’m trying to make you go for a plain looking blog. It’s not that. All I’m trying to say is that you have to watch for the things you place in your blogs and consider those who might have a problem viewing them. What’s the point of placing a lot of images and animations anyway if somebody would just skip your blog because he got tired of waiting for your blog to load.
