Want to know a pro blogger secret on becoming an advance blogger? Well, that secret is… knowing how to reel back visitors and making them your loyal readers!

Ah, loyal readers. What a good thing to hear right? Loyal readers are the back bone of every blog. You can name any popular blog out there and wouldn’t identify one which has no fan base or group of loyal readers. You see, the moment you notice an increasing bunch of people following your blog, that is the time when all things seems to go up (granting you’re keeping up the good blogging work of course).

But before aiming for a fan-base for your blog, first thing’s first shall we? You need to make people come back to your blog first before you can start putting them as followers. The only question is how?

Simple. By understanding how a visitor’s brain works.

And it goes without saying that you being a blogger and I suppose a reader of other blogs at the same time, would already have the idea on what really are the reasons why someone would come back for a second visit or more.

The following are a list of reasons that you need to analyze very well because these thoughts are very critical for every blogger to consider. Key point: think what you would like as a reader and do it to your blog.

Reason # 1: I remembered the address
The very crucial part I believe. Blogosphere is one big information overload. For any reader to keep track of a new blog he just came across for the first time, the very basic step is for him to easily remember the address. Ask yourself, how would I go back into that blog if I can’t even remember what the address is? The same thing happens to each and every reader.

Reason # 2: I was awed at first sight
Have you ever encountered any blog that have made you awed for the first time? Or any site at all which really did a lasting first impression? I only have a few. That’s because of course, making a site that could awe visitors for the first time would be like super hard. But definitely got tons of benefits. My say: if you can make a blog that would make visitors never forget it even for the first time, then I’m telling you, you’ve hit jackpot.

Reason # 3: It really stood out, unique and very interesting
It’s really sad but honestly (and I think you’ll agree) there are a lot of blogs nowadays that are mere replicates or just too plain or too boring or too, uhm, well, not really that interesting. When we encounter those kind of blogs, our first instinct would be like to hit the go back button on the browser right? We just don’t
want to waste our time checking out things that are not really new or even the slightest bit original. The lesson here is, make your blog stand out.

Reason # 4: Very helpful posts! I’m coming for more!
I don’t think you need more explanation right? ‘High quality posts’ rings a bell I’m sure :).

Reason # 5: It’s heavily updated so I’m sure this is the place where I can get the latest gizmos/trends/happenings etc.
People’s weakness often have something to do with the word ‘latest’. This is the very reason why Yahoo homepage featured stories change every 24 hours, the reason why social bookmarking sites are sprouting here and there, the reason why we have (and are addicts of) RSS feeds (and have RSS readers to go with it), and also the reason, why sites like TechCrunch are jampacked with millions of readers every single day of the year. Need I say more? Next!

Reason # 6: I like the blogger! He/she makes fun posts and is really great towards his/her readers
The blog is the blogger. The blogger is the blog. For one, being a popular blogger means having a popular blog. And of course, you, being branded as a ‘great’ blogger would mean you having a great blog. Do yourself and you blog a favor and start acting good towards your readers much more to your first time visitors. You’ll be amazed soon enough what the preschool lesson of ‘being good to others’ would make.

Reason # 7: It’s Offbeat!
Admit it, you’re a fan of offbeat stuff too. Don’t you just love sites and blogs that serves you a great deal of amazing, out of this world (or kinda), wacked out things that would make you laugh out loud or say a good woah.

Reason # 8: It got sticky content which I really need/enjoy
The first reaction to this might be, what is sticky content? It’s a broad topic and you could just Google for it if you what to study more. Anyway, for starters, sticky content is basically something that has a permanent spot on your blog that would make your readers come back. A good example is daily horoscopes. Sticky content makes up for a good reason of any visitor to come back. It really helps, trust me.

Reason # 9: I’ve been hearing the site from other friends/bloggers/blogs
Word of mouth method is still the preferred method. Even if, a first time visitor already decided that he really doesn’t like your blog that much, he might still want to consider for a second visit if he hears other sites or people telling all (or some) of the good things that your blog can give. Sometimes, in my case, I really am not into certain blog but I just kept hearing friends and bloggers mention it and so I come back and see more of it. You can’t blame someone if he doesn’t feel that great about your blog when he first saw it. But, given a recommendation might just do the trick.

Reason # 10: I just love it!
We just can’t seem to stop loving some blogs for a good number of reasons. Whatever it is, you can be sure that high quality is the biggest criterion for the choice. Blogs who go for a good standard and offer quality content and a certain level of professionalism are always the online favorites.

And again, the key is to think like a reader and improve your blog based on what you feel would make your readers satisfied… or even more than satisfied. Based on my own visitor stats, my blog gets a percentage of direct traffic almost close to the referral traffic. I think that would mean that I got readers who directly type my blog’s address and that’s really a great news for me.

Really, it’s not that hard trying to make a good blog. You just need to a blog that would make a reader happy. Easy to say hard to do? Well, that would always depend of course on you.
