I’m giving a thumbs up for myself for ending up with such a compelling title. Have you ever read about a post tackling about this issue? In my case, I’ve gone over some. But this of course doesn’t mean that I’m making a duplicate post. Nope. I’m just trying to share to you ‘my’ experiences regarding this topic. And F.Y.I., I’ve already applied this branding technique ages before I even seen posts dealing about it. I guess that means that I still have rights to claiming informations as first hand.
Meet Your Face (note to self: now that’s funny!)
How many times have you seen your face in the mirror? It amazing how we never get tired of seeing our face every day of our lives. Wake up, take a bath, eat, look at your face at the mirror and off you go. The moment you start your day, people will look at your face too. That’s because it’s how they’ll know that it’s you even if you don’t say a thing. Pretty stupid to even explain right? They look at you, see your face and their mind will automatically process ‘hey, this is (insert your name)!’
How Branding Connect to Your Face
Pretty simple. No two face is the same (identical twins excluded :) just like no two blogs is ever the same. People’s first instinct is to take everything at face value. That’s why if they see your blog (which might look similar to other blogs out there), they’ll most probably forget about it since they can’t find anything quite unique for them to distinguish. The thing is, if you look like the others, they won’t even care.
Now here’s the catch, your face is the most unique thing that you have in this world. That’s how hundreds of people who have seen you can identify you at first glance. What if you put your face at your blog? Not only would it increase the ‘uniqueness’ of your blog, you’ll make it stand out too.
What You’ll Get for Placing Your Face in Your Blog
Here are some of the big plus that you’ll reap once you put into consideration this tip.
One. Bigger Chances of Being Recognized. For example, if a person puts his picture in his blog, chances are, if you’ll see his picture again at sites like BlogCatalog or even Twitter, you’ll recognize right away that he’s the one who runs this ‘whatever’ blog. The key here is making yourself recognizable so that whenever you are seen elsewhere, people can recall or connect about your blog.
Two. Making Your Readers and Visitors Closer to You. People who are fond of blogs prefer the ones in which they’ll be much closer or at the very least are familiar to them. Having your picture into your blog increases that personalization and familiarity level. They’ll be much comfortable reading the thoughts of a person whose face they have seen. It works the same way on why people don’t trust strangers.
TIP: Making your readers closer to you might actually even increase your number of unique visitor's. Read my blogging secrets to gain more unique visitors to your blog.
Three. The Blogger Identification Problem Solved. Let’s say you’ve read a great post in a blog called named ‘Blogging Under the Sun’. The blogger, as you have read is named Ash. So Ash is good in writing, you enjoyed his articles, but really, who the heck is this Ash? It’s like having a textmate and only knowing his/her name. You won’t stop until you know what he/she looks like. In blogging, all you have to do is post your picture and write a very short description and you’re done!
There are so many testimonials about the great effects of having your face in your blog. I really recommend this for the reason that I have had many plus in my blog just because of this. I assure you that you’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain.
But of course, it’s a different story if you’ve got an online stalker or just hated the feeling of having your friends know about the blog that you’ve been keeping as a total secret. Then again, just try and see how it works and don’t blame me for any untoward ‘incident’ :)
