I'm sure if you're an Entrecard member, you've already recieved the news (or you've directly deleted the email without bothering to look). If you still don't know, go over this post found on the Entrecard Blog. I was actually surprised when I've read it. I never imagined this one coming from Entrecard. Up to know, I'm still not sure if this is for better or for worse.
Basically, the new Entrecard (according to the post) will turn out as a Third Party Advertsing Network plus a Credit Cash Out Service. Meaning:
- Entrecard will use their ad widget system (our Entrecard widgets actually) to run paid 125x125 advertisements. Meaning Entrecard will be accepting advertisers (even Non Entrecard members) to make money through our blogs.
- To balance the system between them (the Entrecard) and us (the Bloggers), Entrecard has given us the option too to sell credits for cash. Yes, now we finally can directly sell our credits to them.
The Entrecard Ad Widget System
This was a real shocker for me since I always thought of that Entrecard who started as a company promising free traffic and advertisement. Now, they have actually ran along traditional advertising networks selling adspots using their widget system.
Somehow, I knew something like this would come along (though I was still shocked when I've read the news). The earning potential is just tremendous considering the large Entrecard members network. What's not to profit right?
What I'm worried about is on how the entrecard members community (us bloggers) would accept this for it quite makes a huge change of terms. They are finally making money from us, and where does this puts us? Are we still Entrecard memebers or Publishers as what traditional advertising networks calls their members?
As for me, I'm staying an Entrecard member as long as I don't see any harm beeing brought to my blog stats by this new advertising plans.
The Credit Cash Out Service
The credit cash out service is just a form of compensation to us actually, in my opinion that is. Of course, it wouldn't be fair if Entrecard makes money out of us without them giving back something right? I do have some questions. Like for example how much would be the exchange rate? I hope it's a good deal.
Unless you're winning the contests, EC credits are very hard to acquire. If you're buying them, what's the point if you'll just exchange them for cash afterall? Overall, it would be a plus benefits for Entrecard members. Who wouldn't want to get some cash out of gaining all those EC's right?
This new additions to Entrecard might change the whole perspective to how bloggers take this network. Whether this certain changes are good or bad, time would most definately tell. I'm still on the look out for now on this new system. Share me your views.
