PART 2. Hesitant About Web Hosting? The Geeks Got It All Covered for You

Written by Liane. Find out who subscribes to the blog newsletter now.

On PART I, I’ve talked about the world’s largest web site hosting directory known as web hosting ratings. Now, we’ll be moving on to it’s partner directory undeniable run by geeks…as they call themselves… web hosting geeks. No surprise there. While I’d like to make this review a separate from the first, there’s little much distinction from web hosting ratings and web hosting geeks – the very reason why I intended to create a series post. Now where were we? Oh right. Off to even more geeky stuff about web hosting.

What’s The Difference From Web Hosting Ratings

It’s pretty much easy to confuse one from the other because of the relatively similar site interface. With that, my first task really is to identify that difference.

Same awards… different categories. Whew. My first discovery leads me to disproving the idea that web hosting geeks is not a replica of web hosting ratings. While you can find here to awards given by WHR, the following are the independent awards given by the geeks (that’s my shortcut).

• Best Budget Hosting
• Best Blog Hosting
• Best Forum Hosting
• Best Unix Hosting
• Best Windows Hosting
• Best PHP Hosting
• Best Email Hosting
• Best Ecommerce Hosting
• Best Multiple Domain Hosting
• Best VPS Hosting
• Best Reseller Hosting
• Best Dedicated Hosting
Click here to see the awards given out by web hosting geeks…

The second difference is…well… age. There’s a two year difference between them. That means webhosting geeks have only been around since 2004 (in internet age, that’s way too old).

But The Similarities Are…

Well at least in a good way, both are reputable directories (which is well reinforced by their age). I find web hosting geeks though to be a little more competent in providing resources for the newbies of web hosting. My favorite resources are:

• Web hosting instructions
• Web hosting guide, and
• Finding the best web hosting service

There are more than enough articles at web hosting geeks to get you busy all day long if you really are into this topic. If you’re merely in for the recommendations, they have a robust array of web hosting reviews where you can easily locate the place to go for.

My Personal Notes

I got a hefty load of new information to digest thanks to both website hosting directories. Plus now I know where to go every time I run against these sort of topics. Still quite disorienting though. Sometimes with the too many choices, I get even more incapable of choosing the which over which. It’s just a good discovery though to know that like any other thing, you simply have to find the ideal place for your specific need.

Both web hosting ratings and web hosting geeks taught that too me.

Written by Liane. Find out who subscribes to the blog newsletter now.

I’ve never been much of a techie person – I myself just prefer to write and play around with my photoshop. When it comes to web hosting- really, aside from personal recommendations that I get from friends, my knowledge is really very limited. And to think deciding over where- or what- the best web hosting is among the hundreds of companies open in the market can get quite stressful. The solution? It’s a good thing to always ask the leader in the review industry. This time, let’s not only go to the leader, but to the world’s largest itself.

Read Web Hosting Rating

All For Simple and Minimalistic

On first visit, web hosting rating looks to be nothing of outstanding caliber at all. Maybe it’s a bias to the simplicity of the site interface. It took me quite a while still (and a lot of moving around) to figure out the hotshot that this review site actually is. Lesson learned? Don’t let looks deceive you. Still, I do hope the guys in here get’s to pimp the site to make it all the more appealing to everyone.

I Got My Basic Knowledge On Web Hosting Here

In an effort to really understand what I’m supposed to write, I have to understand too what web site hosting is all about. Honestly, I never really gave much of an effort in understanding the world of website hosting – it’s still beyond my techie capacity. If you scroll down to the bottom page though, you’ll see an article about web hosting. Well that really did gave me my first basic ideas.

If you go to their web hosting guide page, you’ll definitely know more!

Why We Owe Blogging To The… Scientists?!? Reflections to What Blogging Has Become

Written by Liane. Find out who subscribes to the blog newsletter now.

The first blogs that ever existed (they are still called web logs back then) wasn’t used by ordinary persons, or marketers, or companies. They are originally used and created by…scientists… in an effort to publish findings (and so the history of internet too) to compare and broadcast them to the whole scientific community. That’s why it’s called web logs in the first place. Unlike scientists, let’s admit it, we don’t really have much of a hefty reason.
Now came the 20th century, web logs blogs have evolved so much that those scientists might even be at a loss to what blogging means right now.

I cannot even begin to understand how the evolution of blogging took place. Back when I started blogging (2007), a lot of well-established blogs are already up and running. Google is already a large empire and I think Feedburner had been bought by them around that time. There where already dot com moguls dominating the free web, and I don’t even know what else had I been missing being a young blogger myself.

Wordpress, Blogger, Typed, Livejournal… all these blogging platforms had already written their own piece of internet history. Of course, I was there already when the whole blogging platform wars ensued. It’s relatively a well fought battle back then between the leading contenders, namely: Wordpress and Blogger. If you’re new to blogging, you would have been amazed at the time when everyone kept posting Wordpress Vs. Google posts back in 2007.

Of course, we all knew who won. If it isn’t obvious enough, “W” stands for “Winner”. That decision too made Matt (founder) one of the world’s richest young entrepreneurs. All thanks to blogging and the market force it had become.

Speaking of market force, that’s one label that many bloggers soon found their luck on. For some, luck might be an understatement as it was a goldmine that they have harvested in it (right Jeremy, John Chow and the likes?).

Every public relations analyst and real world marketer predicted the glorious faith tool that blogging has become. The whole dot com industry was swept by it. Companies started to found their own blogs, soon an enormous army of bloggers went with the flow and the whole thing became a driving force to reckon with. Advertisers focused their campaigns on blogs, marketers exploited the new industry with their products, bloggers themselves founded their own business and everybody simply doesn’t want to get left behind.

It’s been one dizzy, spellbinding evolution.

Now, where are the scientists and their web logs? Well, they moved on to their now favorite avenue- online publications. Who knows, they might not even recognize their former web logs that turned into blogs right now.

What happened to the original web logs? They evolved to blogs. I bet, some smart guy figured out he can make money out of it. As always in the internet.

The Three Things Every Blogger Needs to Understand About Social Networking

Written by Liane. Find out who subscribes to the blog newsletter now.

I can't even describe how big of a role social networking is to blogging nowadays. For some critics, social networking might just be the new blogging or worse, the start of blogging decay. Whichever way you look at it, only one thing is very clear - that social networking is there to stay. Now, we bloggers are on the rush to use this new tool. But before you dive head fast to the craze, know what you have to know first.

Name me a person who doesn't have Facebook or Twitter

Some people might brag about this that they don't actually have an account. Anyways, let's go straight to the point almost everyone has one. Meaning, social neworking is a place where literally millions of people from all views and walks of life converge together. Marketing people might even call it as the "target market haven" precisely because whatever you do, you're sure to find an audience in there.

How bloggers behave in social networking

The first thing you have to know is to how we behave on these sites, later on, I'll show to you why that behavior greatly affects the outputs. Basically, we bloggers extensively promote in social networking sites. On some extreme cases, a number of bloggers even do heavy spamming without any respect to the community of people especially to the most basic terms of services (TOS). Twitter is a very good example of this case which kinda tell you why I bulk unfollowed 1,831 people months ago.

How people respond to bloggers in social networking
Here comes the funny thing. Still an overwhelming number of social networking users have very little grasp on the concept of what 'professional blogging' really is about (their aint idea revolves around things like Facebook notes, Myspace, and Livejournal blogs). So, what does this mean? Now here comes the simple truths.

ONE: Social networking for probloggers could be pointless.
Why? because usually your contacts here will still be the very same bloggers you know. That's a very interesting thing that I've noticed really. Especially for niches like blogging tips, make money online, internet marketing etc., no normal person would really understand the linggo used (unless he starts to get real interested). But of course, the obvious use to would be the using it as a tool for your campaigns (like new posts, announcements, etc.).

TWO: Personal blogs leads in using social networking sites
You have to understand, the very reason why social networking sites are in boom is because people can connect and share their personal thoughts with people they know. It's an interaction gone online. And this is the main advantage of personal blogs and bloggers who covers topics about normal day-to-day living. Compare shopping tips blog from an seo blog for example. Who would care about things like page rank and google bots anyway except we bloggers? Now, talk about shopping tips and in an instant, you get to have people who's going to be interested about it simply because it's a normal activity everyone can relate too.

The lesson here is that if your blogging about relatively common, normal things in everyday life, social networking will work out best for you.

THREE: People from social network sites take LESS action [important]
It's a trend bloggers are seeing when it comes to promoting via social networking. ProBlogger Darren Rowse for example, when he released his 31 Days to Build a Better Blog Workbook specifically noticed it. The rationale behind it is that SN sites are built and are used for the purpose of leisure. You can't expect everyone to take you seriously simply because they're not even serious when they are on SN mode.

In conclusion, one can always say that social networking sites as a promotional tool is a very powerful one. But like any marketing principle would tell you, you have to learn first the behavior of people using it and your own way of using it. It's how you try to create an even better technique for your own blog's sake.

Written by Liane. Find out who subscribes to the blog newsletter now.

This - my comeback post will probably be one of the hardest post that I'm going to write. And yes, it's a review. Here it goes, today, let's have a look at Top Click Media - UK's top and one of the world's leading Internet Marketing company ever.

THE NAME IS TOP CLICK MEDIA

Last time, I've been bragging about my Page Rank 3 increase. Well, to this company, what I've rooted for almost a long time is a piece of cake. The guys here lives and breathes search engine optimization. But of course, seo companies are mushroom-sprouting in numbers right now? So what sets Top Click Media apart? The answer - everything.

Top Click Media is a company that would offer you with any possible service related to internet marketing. They have four core services though, and these are:

Friends, fellow bloggers, readers, and to everyone else who tunes in on this blog, I’m happy to announce that my long leave is over. Yep. You heard that right. Liane is now back to blog for you!
